Deck Plate Warning
I found out yesterday while driving in blizzard conditions that if you have the deck plate open you suck snow into your intake.
It was pretty fine snow blowing all over the place and it made my truck cough after driving a bit. Then it stopped after i put the cover back on.
So, i recomend putting the cover on during heavy snow.

the snow we all got up here in the NE area was a very fine powder snow, great for skiing/boarding but not so hot otherwise. It would have got sucked through the deckplate with no trouble at all. I had some come through the vents at me before I was able to turn the defrost on.

I haven't ever closed my deckplate yet, rain slush, sun, snow, etc so I'm not about to worry now.
I'm going on at least 3+ years like that now for whatever that's worth.

What MTL said... I've ran mine open thru torrential downpours, standing water and blizzard condition for over 4 years and never ingested anything into the intake.

air filter will absorb a lot of rain water.... Snow/rain/puddles get into stock air boxes.....
No big deal
We want to avoid water filling the cylinders, only because you can not compress watter.
So long as the amount of water coming in is less than the volume of the cylinder at the top of its cycle you should be okay... In theory I suppose.

When i opened the hood to put the cover on there was snow sitting in the bottom of my air box. So, i figured it was a good time to put the cover back on.

the one time I closed my deckplate, I splashed through a mud puddle, at the time the inner fender wells were out, so the water sucked in through the airbox intake tube, needless to say I hydrolocked the engine. Just wonder now if I had the plug out, would this had happened? since no water would have came from the tube and not as much water would have splashed in throught the front......
