De-Chrome project. Need Opinions, please.
My dechrome project is just about done. The last I'm looking at is the badging on the back. What should I do with them? Keep them on, take them off, or just take some of them off. It's sure nicer to wash with them off, but I still want the eye catching look to it. Some pics of the options are below. One I forgot was everything off except the Toyota symbol by the wiper...
Which way should I go? I already removed the "Toyota" in the lower right.

If there are screws holding that one on, then that's staying where it's at. Thanks for the heads up!

Thankfully, there are no screws holding the rear Toyota emblem in place. There are two little nubs on the back of the emblem that line up with the holes...I'm not exactly sure why they're there though.
I took my chrome ones off and replaced them with the black pearl emblems, if you've got the cash I would go that route.
Good luck!

IMO, if you take off the emblems, it looke like it's been wrecked and just gotten out of the shop. Bugs me for some reason. I would keep the emblems, but do the "poor man's" black pearl emblems on 4runners.org. That's what I did with the gold emblems on my old 98 Limited and it turned out great.

I took of my rear emblems when Replaced my tailgate, I went to the yard and got another "4runner" emblem and mounted them on the front fenders in the upper right corner (upper left on the passenger side), looks kinda trick to me

I was standing back looking at it last night and for some reason I kind of like them on. I really thought I wanted them off and I've already taken the "Toyota" and the dealership emblem from the lower right corner off long time ago (with no regrets, there is no need for those on there).
At first I wanted them off, but the more I look at it, the "4Runner", "SR5" and "4WD" catches the eye and makes it clean looking. You're right, if they're off then someone may think it was wrecked. I've removed all badges on other cars before and it worked for them, but I think these are staying on for now. And I'm not paying the $$$ for the Black Perl Emblems....
I just ordered the plastic cap for my rear bumper. Should be in, in 3-5 days. Check out this thread for how the bumpers came out. I'll be posting pics in a minute or two...

Keep the Toyota logo. I'm in the midst of blacking out my 4Runner as well. The only thing chrome when I'm done will be the logos. I'll tolerate the chrome to "represent" as dirtoyboy says.
