in-dash switch for stock port
for those of you who have added switches onto your dash for auxiliary (lights, kill switch etc...), how have you installed? There are ports on the dash to install these switches, but I have not been able to find anyone who makes one to fit the stock port. I did call the stealership ($62.00!!!), but am not willing to pay that much.
Do you know who, what, and where to get switches to fit stock ports from?

Different years switches are different, but I have found some generic switches that fit (but look ugly) from companies like Cole-Hersee. I've gotten factory fog switches from ebay. You can also buy them from Performance Products but they cost as much as dealers.

Just drill a hole and throw a toggle switch in there. That's what I've done. If you screw up, all you have to do is replace the "blank" plastic piece. Cost: $8.

Toyota factory fog lamp switches are available from online dealers for less than $15. I added one to my truck when I added new driving lights. Works great. Here's a link to the part numbers:

Wrecking yards are a good place to find extra switches. Don't forget to look in other Toyota models like Celica, Camry, Turdcell....Ect....
You will have better luck with compatibility if you get them from Toyotas in your general model year. Example: if you have a 92 runner, look in 90 - 95 Toyotas for parts. They shared a lot of common parts across the different models.
Good luck!!
