Dash/Interior Decision and Install Help
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I have a '97 4runner and I am ready for change. The "Genuine Toyota Wood Dash" has seen better days and I would like to replace that. So far I have considered Genuine Aluminum OEM, Brushed Aluminum, and Genuine Carbon Fiber. I haven't decided which one if any would go well with the colors in my car, therefore I have some pictures below. Also, if anyone has any tips on taking the old wood off and putting new dash on, it is much appreciated
In addition, not at the present time but eventually, I am considering vinyl or leather seats, preferably a tan color similar to the existing upholstry. I'm not sure exactly the pricing on this if anyone has experience with it.
Any help with these projects would be great. Thanks again

You have after market "wood grain trim". You have an SR5 and the only Gen 3 4runners that had OEM wood grain were limited's. You are going to have to replace all the trim items unless you can get the trim off. There is a couple of glue removal products out there, but becareful with anything that has a solvent base in it as it will eat the vinyl. some of it might actually peel off. Goof Off is one that you could try. You have quite the project ahead. If you decide to go with another after market applicae such as carbon fiber or aluminum, you can just peel the old wood off and then just prep the surface with sand paper, alcohol rub down and then apply the new covering. Otherwise you will be searching wrecking yards and get the black OEM plastic parts which there are usually plenty of those and they are not that expensive. good luck.
