dash crack help
I have a big crack running through my dashboard. I called the toyota dealer and they gave me a number of a guy who used to fix them but now deson't because they just crack around the area where he fixes them. He also wanted $150 to do it. I don't want to get a carpet kit for the dash so I was wondering what other options I have. I want it to look pretty original. 1990 4runner. Thanks.

OOO Yes, the wonderful cracks! If I where you I would try looking in a U-pull it yard.
I have also seen some on e-bay form time to time. I know the stealership wants around 500.00 big ones for the dash pad.

Is this what you're looking for. I used them earlier today, and they were very nice. I think there is someone on here that works there so you could ask him specifically. His handle is strapp22 on here.
BTW Nathan gave me their link. Thanks again.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but everywhere I looked to fix mine was a bust...really not much you can do. Just gotta live with it, one of those perks of owning a truly tested rig!

NOt so.
A good vinyl repair guy will not take your money and will tell you that repairs to dashes don't work well, true.
But you can easily get a replacement. There are a couple of companies - the one who had been around a while is Coverlay. Around 100 bucks. I was recently searching for a dash mat (that orange dash reflects in the windshield really bad!) and kept finding replacement covers - some are out there for 50 bucks - search for em.

Replacement dash top. Molded vinyl. Looks like the original dash when done.
Here's the first one that popped up on Google:
http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Dash_Pad_Co...IDC00192/66808
There was also an outfit somewhere that would take your old pad and redo it - I looked into this for a collector car I used to own. Searched but couldn't find it again.

oh well, I think I found a guy who might pull a 4runner dash for me so I can replace mine. We will see though. He said $150 including shipping. Sound good?
