Dark grey sludge under the oil cap...

I noticed this dark grey sludge under the oil cap. What is this? Should I be concerned? I live in Canada so Seafoam will be next to impossible to get... what else can I use?

Rad Fluid seems to be fine. I haven't had to add any more coolant... but I think I know where you are going with this... I can feel my wallet getting lighter.

Hey Ontario,
You can get the magic elixer at Carquest. At least, I did at the one in Ajax.
Where in this country-sized province are you? If you're anywhere local (Southern Ontario- from GTA to the Kawatha's), I'll pick some up for you.
PS: What you're seeing on the fill cap is probably just condensation, from the not-so-nice temps we're enjoying lately. However, you may want to check and see if you're elligible for that free head gasket job.

It's definitely not that type of excess moisture then.
Excessive short trips in a cold climate?

I'm on London but I often make trips up to Toronto - I may be making a trip to Ajax.

I'm calling Toyota right now to check about this gasket maintenance bulletin.

Thanks Blair.
Thanks all.

Good call...
The campaign is called 802 in Canada and you'll find Carquest on Bayley St West, Ajax. Stop by the firehall if you're in town.

You guys are good... yeah Astralplane, majority of trips are fairly short commutes and right now the temps are fairly low.
