Angry Dammit... Now I need a rear wheel bearing

Yep, got done early today, so I tackled that leaky oil seal.. Not a good start when I tried to pull the drum off and found the axle to have play in it.. (in and out..) Well, I'll be.. Dang if my e-brake is not always on when I am not moving and I have never noticed this!! Well, I have no noise from it yet, but I can pull it out about 1/8" to a 1/4" and when the shaft is out, and the brake assy along with the backing plate is unbolted there is a ton of play in the bearing.. ˟˟˟˟!! Not I have to find someone with that stupid 3 foot SST to fit into a press to get it off.. I tried to beat it to let the backing plate "slip off" Yea, right.. that didn't work..

Sooo... Here goes another $100 or more.. I did say the hell with it and replaced the seal and put it back togather.. I have been driving it loose for a bit, she can stand a bit more.. and I am not driving the T-Bird to the Yankee Toys meeting again!!

Although, I took her out for about 50 miles tonight, and the wheel is still dry! Small victories..

Dang Lee, at this rate in one more year, you'll have a brand new 2nd gen! Hopefully nothing goes wrong.

Tell me about it.. It is getting there though.. It is getting to be fun to drive again for the first time in over a year.. I had replaced a LT bearing and axle when I got hit back in 98 so that side should be good.. But this is a stock bearing with 145,000 on it..

Funny thing too.. I have been wondering when my rear brakes were gonna start to make some noise.. Well they are original, you know... At the thinnest spot, I have about the thickness of a penney!! I have new shoes going in, I am just going to wait untill the bearing is done.. I will pull her apart next week when I bring my Jeep home..

Ya, I bought a Jeep!! BwaHaaaa I needed something reliable~~

Heck, it is a 91 Wrangler 4cyl 5spd hard top.. 150k for $1000..

the book on it is $3500 to $4500.. Gonna be my "truck based convertiable" (It is better than my 87 Thunderturd)

Yeah, I saw your post on POR. Kind of a newbie question wasn't it!

What about the grille?? No, not really.. I don't know Jeeps.. I personaly don't like the looks of the left over Dodge pick-up headlights and think the older CJ's look way better.. If I could just swap a grille in I would of been tickled pink.. But add the hood?? We will see..

Been over there a long time.. they "took me in" long ago.

BTW.. whatcha doing on the PBB Jeep fourn, anyway??

I was in the area that shows all the forums, Chevy, IH, mercedes, toyota, etc and you were the last person to post on the jeep board so your name was there. I was wondering what you were doing on the jeep board so I clicked.

I feel your pain. I was under the truck last weekend putting in the new clutch and saw that my passenger side inner CV boot is torn. Dammit. I just greased the undercarriage 2 weeks ago and it was fine. I was looking forward to doing a lot of wheeling right after the clutch install but had to stall my plans till I get a new half shaft. This sucks majorly.

Well.. I put about 200 miles on it today.. at least the oil seal worked.. I found out one of the guys in the Yankee Toys had made a tool out of an old axle housing to press it out.. So he is going to do it for me.. I just gotta wait a couple weeks and drive to NH to get it done.. Oh well.. I think we will just have to make a camping trip and use my wifes van and tow up the camper...
