Question CV Leak, Have a repack question, I already searched...

Well I think that enough grease has finally "burped" out due to my Revtek lift that its time to repack them. So I'm planning on going the wide wire tie route, because I still have nightmares from puting the factory clamps on my old Integra. My question is what kind of grease to use? Any over the counter water proof stuff? Also how much to put in, do you just pack the heck out of it? I dont want too much presure and just have them blow again. Since I don't have anything to compare to, I can't really judge it.

Thanks!

People usually buy the boot rebuild kit which comes with 2 types of grease which correspond to the outer and inner joints. Don't know where you'd get just the grease. Maybe the dealer? I have a feeling they don't sell just the grease though.

I got the grease for mine at CarQuest. It was just some generic CV grease in a large packet. I got ride of as much of the old grease as I could, then packed until full. MESSY job!

I have posted this here before, so a search would have yielded the correct numbers. It's not much;

5. ASSEMBLE BOOT TO OUTBOARD JOINT
Before assembling the boot, pack the outboard joint and boot with grease in the boot kit.
Grease capacity: (Color = Black)
215 – 235 g (7.58 – 8.29 oz.)
6. ASSEMBLE BOOT AND INBOARD JOINT TULIP
(a) Pack the inboard joint and boot with grease in the boot kit.
Grease capacity: (Color = Yellow ocher)
230 – 250 g (8.11 – 8.82 oz.)

thanks Rob, is that from the FSM? its not in the Hanes.

I heard that the color'd greases corresponded to the inner / outer CV boots...The OEM grease packs for my '02 Taco pn 10058992 yellw/tan and,
pn 102272719 black in the OEM boot replacement kit..pn 04438-04021...

its not clear on the packs they dont get mixed or which joint they go with. Thanks for helping to confirm
