CV joint

Where's a good place to get an aftermarket cv joint? I need a driver's side cv axle after I noticed grease splatered all over the place on and around the joint. I don't have the money to buy an OEM cv axle right now which would be my first choice so i wanted some opinions about getting a quality aftermarket cv joint.

My understanding is that there is no noticable difference between aftermarket and OEM. I got mine at Advanced Auto with a lifetime warrentee.

I've heard it both ways. Some say OEM only and some say it doesn't matter. I went with an Autozone unit. It cost 70 bucks and came with a lifetime warranty, so if it breaks I get a free one and a reason to work on my truck.

Ive heard the same, only OEM, aftermarket ok. I would only go with oem myself but being in the money squeeze that I am I need a good aftermarket recommedation with a good warranty. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Not to throw this thread off the main topic but would tacoma or tundra cv axles fit on a 3rd gen 4runner?

tundra axles are used in long-travel applications i believe. otherwise get an axle from advance.

I only get "new" axles from Autozone/NAPA/etc. Some of those reman'ed axles tend to snap easy. They also carry a lifetime warranty, but I'd rather not spend any more time under the truck than I have to.

My point exactly I do not want to spend any more time under the truck than I have to. I'll look for New.

I just purchased two "new" from advanced auto. I believe it was $140 total for both. Comes with liftetime warranty. They did have the "reman" ones that required a core charge but i opted for the new ones without the core.

I went with a new cv axle from NAPA only cause advanced didn't have them in stock at the time. It was 123 w/tax, alittle steep on the price but it came witht the lifetime warranty so as long as it has that I think I can live with the price.
