CV Boot Replacement???
Does anyone know of a write up on replacing the inboard and outboard CV boots. I need something here, I have no idea about what I'm getting myself into, but I refuse to pay the $90+/hr. that the stealership would want to install them. Thanks in advance.

On my 2nd gen its pretty easy to pull the half shaft. Autozone has a replacemnt shaft for $70 or so. A lot easier than trying to put a boot on - you have to disassemble and do a ton of cleaning.

I just got my fixed at the dealership, paid 245. I've seen a bunch of people that have said it's been easy to replace, but for some reason they have all been 2nd gens. If you do a search on here, my old thread had somebody post fully detailed instructions.

I recently changed my CV axle. I work as a mechanic during the summer and the guys I work with say that if the boot is ripped its worth paying the money for a new CV axle because the joints are already damaged and the time involved in changing the boots arent worth the hassle.

I have a 2nd gen, and I opted to change the whole axle. about $80 at AutoZone.
I chose replacement for two reasons:
1 - To replace the boots you must remove the axle, and you need the proper tool to attach the new boot, along with grease, and it will probably take 2-3 hours.
2 - The replacement from AutoZone has a lifetime warranty.
It only took me about 1/2 hour to replace my axle, and now I have a new axle, two new boots (professionally installed) and a warranty.
Two new boots, tool, and grease is about $40, plus 2 hours of my time
vs.
New axle, new boots, grease, warranty, and 30 minutes of time $80
Just my $0.02.
