Custom amp rack, built all by myself!

I built this rack last year, thought I might give others some ideas if they are ever considering putting a system in there Runner...

I think I can handle drawing two red Xs, not sure about building an amp box like yours because I have never seen it.

Nope won't work. You'll have to use someone else to host the pics.

Where on the site do you sign up for a free account? Didn't see anything there that mentioned such a thing?

What amp you got pushing your JL's?

I have 2 10" w6's, with some old amp.. Rockford Fosgate Punch 225.2 Amp

I dunno if thats enough, im not an Audiophile...

anyways.. what do you guys recommend a closed box for the subs or bandpass is that what you call them? lol

I got some speakers for the front and back out of my previous car, the fronts will work but my rears wont.. since toyota 4runners have the same front and rear speakers... and Idont want to wire the 2nd amp and speakers... ugh... it was enough wiring the sub in...

Very clean steup! Those are awesome amps, too. I like your setup. My first amprack was similar to yours. After I started building my new one, I drove over it a couple times with my truck

For those with an extracab truck, you can get some ideas from my install as well.

There's more pics on my website
Just click the stereo install button.

Word of caution for dialup users - pic intensive, may take a while to load.

Ducky.... Marysville, Washington? If so..... I've got a killer box for your subs. I had 2 10W6's in my 300ZX, but the box won't fit in my singlecab. It's a bandpass that is tuned specifically for the W6's. With my JL 500/1 amp, I hit 135.6 db in my car, and that was with an SQ setup. Anyways, the box should fit nice in the back of a Runner. I have to build a new box for my truck and don't need the old one clogging up my garage space. I don't know what type of box you are running, but one tuned specifically for the speakers is always best. And a free box is even better.

Sure ill take any freebee's lol

Right now I got some box that was custom for the back of a honda... I hacked off everything but the box itself, and run that, they sound "ok", so if all else fails I can switch back if yours doesnt sound better, although Im sure they will...

SO how do we arrange this? =D got pics you can take real quick?

I still need to tune the settings on my deck... lol and I havent even put speakers in yet.. lol

I still dunno whats the difference or what sounds better bandpass or sealed... all I know is a band pass has a port or 2 right?

Hmm.. my post the other night didn't go through.

Here are some pics from when it was in my Nissan. AND some pics of MY custom amp rack. It was a stealth/show setup.

For those of you wondering what I was running....

Audiobahn A4400E amp powering my mids. 75wRMS x 4
JL Audio 500W monoblock amp. 650W RMS @ 1.5ohms.
(2) JL Audio 10" W6 subs wired in Parallel.
Boston Acoustics up front, Sony in back.
Sony deck with two sets of 4 volt Preouts.

I had it tuned locally for SQ. Cranked up WITHOUT distortion, I hit 135.6 db.

Ducky, as for what sounds better.... it all depends on the vehicle and the resonant frequency of the vehicle. Everyone has opinions as to what is best... but they all have their positives and negatives. The box is set up with 2 ports. The speakers fire directly at each other, with the plexyglass panel showing the dustcaps of the speakers. The box is very well made and very rigid. NO flex at all. Any questions... just ask.
