Cup holders

UK cars don't have cup holders fitted, I have noticed that there is a place for a cup holder in my dash, can anyone give me the part # of it.

Regards, Kerr

Sorry, don't have the number. Thought I'd just add this though: besides being too small, the 2nd gen cup holders have one design flaw. On the freeway, they shake soda cans at just the right frequency to splash soda all over the dash, windshield, radio, and shifters. Really annoying.

Oh, edit: the soda also gets into the vent louvers. Whenever you use the A/C, the viscocity of the soda goes up and makes the louvers really, really hard to move. Almost feels like something is going to break.

The one good thing is that the AC keeps anything in the cup holders nice and cold. My mom put some water there and it ended up being colder than when she first placed it there.

I'll second that...

I hate the design. I had to replace the darn thing since they don't last forever holding heavy stainless mugs. Do you think the number is stamped on it? I remember how to yank it out if you think the # is on it. Most parts I've seen don't have a # though.

Kerr,

I wasn't able to find the part # doing a cursory web search, but I did find a place where you can request a part number. Click here to go to the form.

Thanks for all the replies, if there not that good I won't bother looking to hard for one. I also thought it might get in the way of the gear change, what with mine being a manual.

Thanks, Kerr

Cupholder PN for 2G 4R

The Part Number is 55625 89101. It was stamped on the underside of mine.

I had my dash apart putting in a new headunit and fixed antenna. Only 2 hours. Hehe, I used to do these alot and forgot how easy it became for me...

The cup holders aren't that bad, just a little annoying. I would probably rather have it than not have it, they are convenient. I'd say if you can find one cheap then go for it. They work great for water bottles.

I hate the stock cupholders too... and the center console dish is an odd shape to hold most drinks securely. what were they thinking? The best thing I came across is a folding cupholder (Wal-Mart/Pep-Boys) that I installed on the lower backside of the center armrest. I removed the ashtray and screwed it in to cover the hole. It work great and holds several sizes of cups/bottles including the mega-size ones. One nice thing is it folds out of the way when you dont need it and it gives a cupholder for the rear passengers if they want one.

Hello,

I know this is and old post, but I have a doubt.

Like kerrs, my 4Runner ('94 3.0TD) didn't have the cupholder in stock.

I wonder if I can put a cupholder from an american Toy. I have the piece of plastic with the cupholder shape but dunno if I can simply bolt it.

I'm going to buy one so I need this info hehe.

Thanks,

David

Blizzard - it should fit right in. If you have a blank of something there, remove it and a cupholder literally slides right into the slot.

Thanks Cebby, I just have a piece of plastic.

I usually have to eat in the truck (I have very little time and must go up and down all day) and have not where to hold the coke hahahaha.

Thanks!

just a small tip here. I've found that the cup-holder is a "spilly holder" too but if you take a few sips before you drive away. or as I do pour about a large mouthful on the road (the road's share) before you leave the drive thru no problem. Also if you turn the spout to the side 90 degrees the fore and aft sloshing won't spil out either. All you need to worry about now is the off camber action, just stay off the curbs is all.

YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY I DRIVE THEN STAY THE H%** OFF THE SIDEWALK OFFICER!
