Cruise Control needs tuning???
Day after I picked up my truck I returned it to the dealer because the cruise didn't work. They drove it around and said the cruise worked fine. It still doesn't work in my opinion. The nuance that I have learned is that I need to hold the cruise stick in the set position for as long as 8 seconds for the cruise to actually take control and sometimes it still won't. I haven't driven with a cruise on many other Toyotas but doesn't this sound wrong? I'm used to a milli-second depression of the cruise button on my old dodge. The resume/accelerate feature kicks in pretty quickly and this is on a manual. I figured my problem had to do with the clutch indicator button thing but it's doing what it's supposed to do.
Is my cruise defective or is this normal?
Is this fixable and how do I go about tuning it?
One thing I have noticed is a cable running from the cruise box under the hood to the throttle has a lot of slack in it. If I knew more about auto mechanics, this would be my prime culprit. However I don't so I'm asking the grease monkeys for help.

my cruise works after just tapping the stick towards the set postition. however, i dont get to use my cruise all that often bc of mainly city driving, so i dont know if it works after using the clutch start cancel button or not.

Hey thanks Garrett. If I didn't know better I would say you're priming me for a favour.
I guess I really need to read further down the threads when I do searches.
