crap! crap! crap!

well I took the 4runner apart this afternoon to put the new springs and shocks in the back. I noticed the springs looked kinda skinny but didnt think about it. Well santa got the wrong springs, I have parts for a 96+ 4runner and I destroyed one shock removing it. So now I have to send back the parts to rocky road and wait on new ones. I am thinking to just get some monroe reflex shocks for the back cause those are a day away and I need a car. Anyone have any opinions about running OME springs without thier pricey shocks? thanks for any help guys

(i knew i shoulda asked for the packaging slip, i didnt wanna be rude cause it had prices on it though doh)

Nothing wrong with running OME springs without matching shocks.
I say hit the junkyard for a temp replacement stock shocks until you get the ones you actually want.

Better than buying Monroes.

i can get cheapie gabriels for 20 bucks, to be honest I wasnt all to pleased with paying nearly 70 a shock when monroes are 35 ea. I have the reflex's on the front already and they seem perfectly fine. That and I will save santa a few bucks when the whole thing is done.

IMO, you save a few bucks on shocks and get something cheap...that is how it will ride...like a roller coaster ride at the local fair. Most important thing between you and the road other than your tires is your suspension, of which shocks play a huge part. I say just drive it with what you got until you get what you want and don't skimp, do it right ONCE.

i hear what your sayin. But wouldnt you consider monroe reflex's more than capable? the gabriels would be used only as temps since 20 is worth it compared to looking in the Jy for one.

I've had OEM, OME and Bils and the former (2) can't touch the Bils with a 39 1/2 foot pole. Why have a nice ride ruined by cheap arse shocks? Temporary, yes, long term...no way.

well i am thinking over which one i'll get the reflex or the OME's either way with this down time a few other things will be done. some undercoating rustproofing, extended diff breathers, and just check through everything else to make sure its all gravy.
