Crane Cams Hi 6 install help needed
Ok guys newbie to this forum need some help. I just got a 93 pickup with the 22re. I tried to install a crane cams HI6 to my truck. It starts and quickly dies. Do I need to get the Tach adapter for this truck? Now I'm only running the truck with the 91 coil with no problems. Thanks for the help.

The whole truck feels alot smoother thru the revs.

I was wondering if i need a tach adapter to make it work. I dont get a trigger signal. I also wanted to know if the hi6s eliminates the stock igniter. Basically how the hell do i get it to work. Lol. Thank you for your help.

You need the HI6 control, an LX or LS 91 coil and a Tach Adapter. The MSD tach Adapter that I use has only 1 output, if you are running fuel injection (converted from carb) you will need a Tach Adapter with 2 outputs. On the Tach Adapter, wire the unit for voltage output and connect the Tach Adapter output wire to the Black wire in the existing factory wiring harness.

Thank you. I have a 22r with a weber and headers. Nothing fancy but it is a new motor (not that it makes a difference). It sounds like you have a carb too. How or where do you hook up the red and white wires coming from the distributor? I have an lx 91 coil as well. Does this setup eliminate the stock igniter or do I have to keep it? Do you have the msd 8910 tach adapter? I appreciate your help brotha! BIG TIME!!!

You connect your Distributer Red and White wires to the twisted Purple and Green wires coming from the HI6 unit. The HI6 Purple (+) wire goes to the White (+) wire on your distributer and the HI6 Green (-) wire goes to the Red (-) wire on your distributer. The HI6 Blue wire (Cylinder Select) and the small Red wire (Ignition Trigger) must be connected to 12V ignition power only. If your HI6 unit has a Rev Limiter then you must connect the Yellow / White wire to the same 12V ignition power as the Blue and Red wires. You do not use the White wire on the HI6 (same connector as the small Red (Trigger) wire). The Brown / White wire on the HI6 is for an Ignition Retard Control. I use an MSD 8920 Tach Adapter wired: Red wire-12V Ignition, Black wire-Ground, White (Tach Signal Input) wire connected to the HI6 Green wire (Tach Signal Output), and the Purple (Tach Signal Output) wired to the Black (Tach Input Signal) wire in the factory wiring harness.

˟˟˟˟. I don't know if I fuc*ed up or what. I bought a crane HI-6 S not a HI-6 for my 82 toyota 4x4. I also have the LX-91 coil. I also have an msd 8910 tach adapter. Either I don't know what the hell I'm doing or I just bought the wrong ˟˟˟˟. It's carbureted not EFI. It should be simple to hook up. W T F AM I DOING WRONG????
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME?????????? THANK YOU.
