Cowl Yota Hood

I'm working on a new hood for my 4Runner, and i'm looking for a few ideas on re-hinging the hood to allow it to open with an over hang above the wiper area. I thought I might add a sloted track to the hood underside perhaps spring loaded that would push the hood forward as it is lifted up. This would allow clearance for opening and would only require backward pressure while closing to latch. What do ya think? I Really would like to forgo pinning the hood in place (checking oil, water, ect would bite).

I've got the hood with the sport cowl, would anyone know how to possibly make it a functional cowl? It would be a sweet idea, but I have no clue on how to go about doing such a project.
