Could my truck tow it?
Im trying to buy a Supra but the tranny has a few problems like no reverse. I was wondering if my truck would be able to tow it on a car dolly. I dont think so but its worth a shot becasue i can get it fairly cheap. I would have to tow it from Ontario back to seattle. My truck has a brand new engine with only about 8K on it and the drivetrain is rock solid. The car wieghs around 3500 i think.
I really dont think it is possible but its worth a shot for the price. Even if i ended up killing my truck it would be ok because id have a Supra.

I've pulled 3200lbs with my 22RE 5spd.... It was a little much on it, but it did pull it. Seeing how you'd be pulling it mostly on the freeway I think that would be a lot easier on the truck, just be prepared for a long trip, cause you won't be getting anywhere quick. What engine/tranny combo do you have in your truck?

Should be a problem, I towed my Buddy Zuki Kick home from a 4x4 trip. this thing had 35" Mudder, and MANY Mods. And I only used a T-Bar to pull it.
My truck is a 91 4cyl Auto. And the Zuki would be allot heavier than a supra.
Take your time you should be fine.

You can tow anything, even a battleship, with the right gears. 3500lb will be fine if you don't subscribe to the American philosophy of "I need an engine big enough to not have to alter my driving style while towing". If you believe that you won't be ticked for going slow and won't get hit by anyone else, then it will be fine.

Braking will be your biggest problem... with some caution (read: common sense) you'll be fine. If you want to drive/tow like most people I see on the roads, then please let me know when you'll be making the trip so I can tell all my loved ones to stay off the road.

Those Supras and a trailer will weigh in near 4000lbs FYI but I guess you'll just tow it behind the truck w/o it.

Keep in mind that if you feel your truck either is too old, too small, or too underpowered, you could rent a Uhaul trailer and truck. It wouldn't be as cheap if all goes well, but if you broke your truck, you would probably wish you had rented.

Like everyone said, just by taking your time and being responsible, you shouldn't have any issues.
You could rent or ask a friend with more tow capacity to help you out, hell, someone on this board. It could avoid problems if so.

pull the drive shaft (propeller shaft) out ot the supra and tow it with the truck, do not try to set world records for off the line, stopping and trip time and you will be just fine.

Why do people always say to take teh drive shaft out when you tow on a dolly? that ridiculas... its IMPOSSIBLE to hurt it if the drive shaft is in the car unless your imaginary buddy whos riding back in the car decided to pop it in gear for you... Do you think all these old farts who are pulling wranglers around behind their RVs pull the drive shafts out every time they decided to take a 1500 mile vacation ? NO

Jacksonpt said it right. Your biggest problem will be braking. If I were you I'd go rent a truck and abuse it for a day and save your truck for better things. But you should be fine just try not to do a lot of heavy braking.
