Coolant temp.
I have a question about coolant temp. My gauge has always read just above half way. All other Toyotas that I have owned have read just below half way. I asked a question about this in this forum a good while back and some said that theirs read the same as mine. I have changed the themostat and the temp. sensor and the reading is the same. I have also ran the truck to operating temp. and popped off the radiator cap to check the temp with a thermometer. It read 170 F. I believe that the thermostat is a 185. Does this seem right? Thanks for any info. (2000 4x4 3.4L)

That isn't really anything to worry about. As long as it is consistent you should be fine. I have had several toyotas and they all sit in a different place...just above half, just below half, right in the middle.

Have someone hook up an OBDII reader and check the temp that way.
Or buy one and do it yourself: http://www.urdusa.com/product_info.p...s_id=840100000

Coolant temp.
Mine has read above the center from the day I bought it new. I changed thermostat, coolant and it still read the same. I now have a ScanGuage II and the temperature reading is right where it should be around 180. The Toyota guage shows it a little bit above center.
