Angry Coolant Leakage, !$@&*

Howdy everyone! This will be a long spiel. Bear with me. I have a 95' 4Runer with 3.slow and have had coolant dripping down the passenger side of the engine. :wtf: I thought it might be an oil leak, or another blown head gasket. I had the head gasket replaced approx 1.5 years ago. It turns out that coolant was running along the front and side of the engine, which was filthy, and dripping onto a much filthier fron diff. So.....

After watching the coolant in the reservoir start to disappear, I have begun to tackle this project. I first started off with a compression check. All the cylinders are from 161-165 psi. I also noticed that coolant was dripping out of the outflow at the top of the engine. The amount of wetness, (AND THERES LOTS) didn't lead me to believe that could be the only source. I now have the P/S Pump, (which is now going to get a rebuild) belts, Timing Cover 2 and radiator, fan, shroud, fan bracket? off the engine. Since I have everything off, I wil also be replaceing the timing belt. I see where the coolant has been running, but can't get a full idea until I get off the rear No.3 Timing Cover.

I need to pull the Harmonic Balancer, I have a tool for the job, but is there any other way to keep the engine from rotating and not pulling the starter. I replaced the starter contacts 9 months ago, and I REALY REALLY REALLY don't want to pull it again. IT SUX!

Can you rent the SST from anywhere?

The engine's RPM's also surge up and down a bit when accelerating from a stop enless I floor it. (Which I usually do with the 3.slow.) :wtf:

Don't I have to keep the engine from turning over though?
