Color to paint Limited Fender flares?

Color to paint Limited Fender flares?
I am about to get a set of OEM limited fender flares installed on my 4Runner. I was wondering what color I should get them done in. My factory color is sunfire red. The limited running boards I have right now are silver so I could get them done in silver. I also thought to have them done in the same color as the rest of the car, black, or gunmetal gray. Anyone got any opinions?

personally, i dont like the two tone color scheme so much. my vote is to color match everything. or color match the fender flares and get a set of sliders (in black, of course)

check it out... here's what it would look like w/ red flares and then just add a red sahara bar and a lift... oh, and ditch the running boards, sell them on ebay, and get some sliders!

I got the flares on ebay from a wrecked 97 runner for 200 with running boards. I already had the running boards for my conversion so I have a spare set now. For installation, I'm gonna be going to the body shop today to get some figures. I'm considering changing the color of the truck to the carbon blue that came on the 2000 celicas. Just a thought though. Nice color key job bamachem.

id go with the charcoal grey/black that comes on the green & black LTD's...not too big a fan on full colour matching..i like contrast 
the tan like filthys would be my 2nd choice.
and i 2nd the notion to toss the factory boards and go sliders. even with no sliders..it looks much better. unless your ride is all factory suspension & wheels/tires. then id keep em on till you get er lifted

I hadn't planned on liftin the runner any time soon. I may not lift it at all since its a 2wd. The color keying was mainly what i had in mind. Good to know that there are others that share my opinion out there. Hopefully it doesnt cost an arm and a leg.

I just got back from the shop. The guy told me that it'll be about $1200 for labor and paint. He told me another $300 to get the boards color matched. He also told me that it would take about three weeks to get it all done. Does that all sound about right?

That sounds about right for the labor involved in making the OEM flares fit a non Limited.
Get the bushwacker flares and ditch the running boards and you'll save about $1000.

$1200 is nuts. $300 to paint running boards is doubly nuts. it's only a matter of marking and drilling the holes for the clips. from there, it's just a little prep-sanding, a light coat of thin primer, three coats of base and then three coats of clear. the paint should run you $300-$400. the rest of the labor is easy as long as you have all the parts/pieces.
get the flairs painted and put them on yourself. sell the running boards and get some sliders. you'll come out WAY ahead.

The only thing about the holes, I see that the clips are square and I don't know how to get them on since they're square. Hard to line them up without a template. But I do already have all the parts, so changing to the bushwackers is kinna out of the question.

drill a round hole w/ a drill and then use a triangular or square rat-tail file to shape them to your liking. that's exactly what the body shop would do for that $800-$900 they want to charge you. it would be a 6-8 hour job total for somebody who has the tools.

take a piece of cardboard and mark the best way you can on the cardboard for the holes. cut them out and then verify on the flare that they're in the proper place. use them to mark the holes on the body panels, then drill, square them off, cover the exposed metal with some primer and let it sit a few hours, then attach the flares.
that should be easy enough.

It looks from your avatar like your entire truck is color-matched and for that reason, I would say paint the flares like doubledown mentioned and install some rock sliders the same color. You hardly even notice the flares on a color-matched truck, I like them to stand out.
