Which Coils? OME 891 or LC
Well, I'm looking at a full suspension upgrade with OME 882s and the heavy duty shocks up front, and heavy duty shocks in the rear, but dont know whether to go with OME 891s or the LC coils. Anyone driven both to be able to compare? I know the LC gives more lift, but I would prefer whichever has a stiffer ride

I've driven both for many many many miles. I'd choose the 891's over the LC coils if I were to do it again. Personally, the LC coils give _way_ too much lift. This really bugs me, especailly how the massive rake messes with handling/braking.
The 891's are indeed stiffer, but it's very tolerable and controlled. They flex just fine.

I also vote OME 891's. Really like how they handle with extra weight in the rear of my runner. I left the stock inner coil bump stops inside the new OME coils for an extra 1/2" of lift. Handles and flexes really well.

From a cost perspective, you can get the LC coils for about $50 cheaper than brand-new OME's from Strapp22 shipped. I bought both but only kept the OME's and I'm very happy w/ their performance.

The LC coils do give more life and rake, probably ~1" more than the 891's. They're somewhat softer than the 891's too. This was the exact same decision I had to make a couple of months ago and I went with the LC coils.
They flex like mad and ride super soft. The LC's were the best choice for me, but if you're looking for a stiff ride, go with the 891's.

I just installed 881's and 890's last weekend with the comfort shocks on all four corners.....just like McDonald's....I'm Lovin It!!! My 4-runner sits with a rake as it is right now, but I plan on adding a spacer soon to level it out.

If you tow at all, then 891's unless you want to add airbags. I've had my 891's for a while and they are well sagged from repeated heavy towing of my camper. I've tried the LC coils also, but the 891's are the only way for towing, unless you add the airbags to the LC coils. For comparison I now run 891's and a 1.5" spacer and that is equal to the lift from the LC coils-remember though my 891's are well used and probably sagged a good bit more than most.

Those of you who suggested Tundra coils up front, are you saying to run those on the OME struts? or do you suggest the TRD tacoma struts like everyone else does? And The reason I was thinking OME is because I got offered a deal on a whole OME setup from jwbehm, but he offered to swap out the 891s for LC if I wanted. But now it looks like I might only get the rear anyways... we will see. Wish I could find some used Tundra coils

IMO go with the TRD Tokico daul valved Tacoma struts w/ the Tundra Coils and put a 3/8" Spacers... this setup gives you 2.5" of lift and gives gives you a really good ride!!

Dont worry about quickness, I wanted something fast and cheap the first time. I ended up doing everything all over again.

If you go with the OME shocks and Tundra coils you'll eventually need limiting straps since the OME shocks are too long.
To avoid the limiting straps go with the tokico shocks, which are shorter.

So, wheres the best place to find these TRD sturts and Tundra coils used? Dont really feel like paying full price lol. Dont know of any junk yards around either. Think guys on TTORA would have some when they upgrade their suspensions?

I ran 882's for about a month and IMO they ride like there is no suspension, very stiff.
I ran 891's for 2 years and they are nice, IMO just a little stiff with no weight in the back.
Tundras coils and a top-out in the front ride and flex great and LC coils (the right ones) ride and flex great and there is very little rake on my truck.

Well, I put some 2.5" spacers in the front to see how that rode... went wheeling and broke my already bent front swaybar link, but barely noticable. The spacers stiffened up the ride so I can barely tell a difference now. I might like the LC coils in the rear for the 1" more lift and better articulation, I dont know if I want any more body roll than I need... if that makes any sense
I do a lot more driving on road than off road, and though I enjoy the off road performance, I think I would rather be able to drive normal speeds than worry about the body roll scaring the bajeezes out of me around turns.
