Cobra CB Radio & Power Inverter Group Buy
I posted this over on 4x4wire but I figure some of you hang out here more.

Okay guys. I think I have some great numbers for you. I got some pricing on some Cobra Electronics stuff. I am going to offer these items first. If you want something that isn't here; email me. Here goes.
18 WX ST - Retail: $89.95 - Sale: $50.00
75 WX ST - Retail: $129.95 - Sale: $70.00
148 NW St - Retail: $209.95 - Sale: $135.00
High Gear 150watt Inverter - Retail: $55.95 - Sale: $32.00
High Gear 500 Watt Inverter - Retail: $139.95 - Sale: $80.00
High Gear 2000 Watt Inverter - Retail: $549.95 - Sale: $315.00
*** Okay this is how this will work. Shipping charges are $8 for CB Radio's and smaller inverters, and $16 for the larger one. Please email me at dan@net-impress.com and let me know what you want.
I suspect that turnaround will be somewhere from 1-2 weeks. I cannot place an order for one piece, so I need to wait until 4-5 orders (of anything, not of the same piece)
Let the fun begin!

Is a 150 watt inverter big enough to power my laptop? I need a way to let the kids watch movies on long road trips and why not a 15" screen with built in DVD drive?

To figure out the power requirements, take a look at the power adapter, it should have some indication of output voltage and current. To compute power, multiply the voltage by the current in amps. For example, if it's 12v at 1100ma, then 12 * 1.1 = 13.2 watts. This is the _output_ power rating, and figure about an 80% efficiency from the AC side, so 13.2/.8 = 16.5 watts on the AC side.
So... in this example a 150 watt inverter would be more than ample.
Keep in mind that once you get AC on board, you may find other things to plug in there, so take that into account as well.

Wow. A lot of questions!
These are all NEW products. All have a factory warranty.
If you need a power inverter more than 500w, I can get the 1000w model that has a peak of 2000w or a 2000w model with a peak of 4000w.
The 2000 watt model is $315 (retail is $550)
Send me an email if you need anything - dan@net-impress.com
*** Special note *** I found that you need at least the 500w power inverter to use a blender. I found this out the hard way, trying to use a 150w model. No marguritas for us.
