ive been having issues with my clutch. when i depress the pedal the clutch engages but slowly backs off and disengages as if there is a leak in the system. i have recently replaced the master and slave cylinders, the clutch isnt but a year or two old. im thinking maybe a leak in the lines or a broken fork? maybe even a bad cylinder even tho they are only about a yr old. any suggestions?

If you are not losing any fluid, the failure has to be in the clutch master cylinder itself.
A leak speaks for itself.

I have seen new clutches fail in days depends on the driving habits of who is driving it.

Perhaps your sucking air from a loose connection from dirt being on the threads

Then again it depends on what brand parts you installed

I had the same issue on my 88.


-seals/ O-rings in the master cylinder weren't holding pressure, and the fluid would leak behind the piston and stay inside the cylinder. Never dripping externally.


Could also be the case with the slave cylinder.

ALSO. All it takes is a teeny tine pin hole. A hole so small its barely even noticeable when you're looking right at it. Usually happens coincidentally in hard to see areas. Like behind the engine spraying on the firewall.

I agree with the notion that if you can't see any leaks, it's the master cylinder. It can leak past the piston and back into the reservoir. It can also leak into the cabin where the clutch pedal rod goes into it - which can make a mess of soaked carpet/padding and eat off all the paint.
