Clutch Bracket
Everyone
I just wanted to write about my experience with my clutch in the last few months and hopefully help others that may have similiar problems.
About a month ago, I noticed my clutch started to slip while in 4th, under hard accelatration. So I stopped by my local mechanic and he said he could take it in a couple of days. 130K and heavy city driving, it was due.
As soon as I left the mechanic's I started to hear a cracking or a metal to metal noise coming from my clutch pedal. At that point I assumed it was the Clutch Master Cylinder, the next day I played around with it, I had a friend pump the clutch while my hand was on the Clutch MC, you could feel the grinding in the Cylinder so I figure it was bad.
Well a week later, my mechanic was done with the new clutch but he had trouble bleeding it. So I got mad and brought it home to finish the work myself. What I discover was, the famous clutch bracket crack. This was stopping me from getting a fully depressed clutch hence you could never get all the air out.
So I order one 180 bucks from Toyota and replaced it. The noise was gone and the clutch is better.
So if you heard this cracking or click noise while pushing in your clutch pedal there is a good chance that it is the famous cracked clutch bracket.

I fixed my bracket around a year ago also. I had my girlfriend take it to a muffler shop to get welded as I was working. They didn't even charge for quick zap to weld er back up, not a pretty weld but a free one.

I thought about welding it myself, but the new one is better made and it has a rubberized coating on it. So no cut fingers while installing it.
But if you order it from the site above it's 115 bucks. Much cheaper than the dealership.
