Clutch adjustment
The clutch pedal on a 2002 tacoma has about an inch of play in it before it starts to engage the clutch. Is there a way to tighten this up?

on the pedal itself there are two adjustments. the first is a bumpstop on the lever which adjusts the height, the second is a pushrod that goes into the master cylinder. In your case you may either have to just lower the pedal height by extending the bumpstop, or you could try adjusting the pushrod to gain more pressure. Maybe a combination of both.
To adjust the height there should just be a locking nut and another nut the moves the rod. For the plunger on teh master cylinder there is a pin that slides through a fork and a hold in teh pedal arm, this is held inplace by a clip. Remove the clip, slide the pin out. Hold the not on the rod itself with an open end wrench and use another wrench to loosen the locking nut( in this case you tighten it to back it off, so righty loosy) , then twist the plunger rod in farther or out more.
