Clicking noise within R front wheel while in 4WD
My buddy kicked my a$$ in the Tough Truck Comp on Sunday but didn't do so without breaking. While in 4WD you can hear a clicking noise. 4WD seems to be working. I got under his rig with a long screwdriver to feel for play in his passenger side half shaft. I could get quite a bit. Is that normal? I am guessing maybe he busted a halfshaft clip or that the hub is acting up. Any ideas before I go over to help him locate the issue?

i have a similar problem.. getting a clicking noise from 4wd on the drivers side.. only when in 4.. 4WD still works though..
also.. a week age i scrwed something up.. ran over a big rock on a downhill and now the tranny is a lil off (drive is in N, R is almost to P, and so on..) and i cant get the 4wd to stay in 4 unless its in 4 lo.. when in 4hi it pops back into 2 relativly easy (easy meaning making or turn or something simple) i think the cross member banged the transfer case and its been downhill since..

fixed my clicking noise today.. when i banged that rock i tore off the skid plate under the connecting point of the drive axle for the front wheels. the top of the skid plate connecter doohickey was mangled pretty good.. hit something while wheeling yesterday and it knocked the "doohickey" some more and it was rubbing against the drive axle for the front.. thats why it only clicked while in 4.
second problem sort of resolved (almost) the cross member under my t case got knocked into the t case and it is messing its aligment up.. got to peek under a same gen 4runner in a parking lot today and saw what was different about myne. (good thing the owner didnt come out while i was under his rig..
fadetoblack: good call, CV joints are always breaking on these trucks/4runners as i hear, and it makes a clicking noise too
