Cleaning after off-roading
I watching that special on 4X4's on the Travel channel right now and all I can say is WOW! Looks like tons of fun. My question is, one of the guys said to clean the axle(?) everytime to get all the mud and stuff out. I've been off-roading 4 times since I got my runner (everytime in the mud) and was wondering if anyone knew just what I needed to do. Thanks.

wait until the next morning when your truck is cold and rinse out everything. pop the hood and wash out under there with light pressure (be careful around the intake). under the front you can just blast away the CVs, the brakes, the skid plates, etc. you can blast off your frame rails, your t-case and tranny, the driveshaft, etc. make sure you get the rear brakes clean and the rear coils and all that. anything you dont get off will turn to rust. if youre having trouble getting some mud off, get some Simple Green and a scrub brush (you can use this stuff anywhere).
after you blast everything off, let it dry for about 30 mins and then start you truck and let it idle for about 15 mins to burn the rest of it off.
good luck
