clean that throttle body!

ive been needing to do this. took me about about 10-15 minutes. i had my dad hold the throttle open while i scrubbed inside. seemed to work great! i had a little trouble starting my car once i got everythign back on, probably because there was some carb cleaner left inside. yes, you can use carb cleaner, in fact, as stated on the following link, the toyota FSM says to use carb cleaner.

idle is much higher now, and she seems to have a little more throttle response

I cleaned mine about a month ago when I pretty much did a complete overhaul.

Mine was filthy..... the guy helping me sprayed carb cleaner and scrubbed it until it was shiney again! Yup, mine did the same at start up, but he said it was cuz of the carb cleaner. Seemed to help a tad for my old 4Runner

Mine was idling at 1200 RPMs after I cleaned mine. Didn't do much to increase the power...it is a 3vze after all.

My Runner has 170,000 miles. Bought it with 67k miles. I'm clueless when it comes to cars. So I can say it had never been done while in my possession for 100k miles

I heard you're not supposed to use Carb Cleaner to clean TBI's. Alway's heard you're supposed to make sure to only use TBI cleaner only. just read it somewhere so don't crucify me if you don't agree. I used TBI cleaner about 6 months ago to clean mine and I noticed a good difference. glad it worked good for you.

EDIT: Scratch what I said about carb cleaner use, I just finished reading L33T's original post.
