Cig Lighter Mod info needed (this should be an easy one)

How can I make my cig. lighter offer power full time. In other words, I'd like to charge my phone, and not have to keep the ignition in the "on" position.

Remove the relay for the +12v outlet designation in the fuse box. Get a wire with taps and bridge it!

If you're gonna do either of the above I would also place a 10 or 15 amp fuse on the line for safety.

If you want detailed instructions with photos you can check the write-up section part of the site. You can find it from the main page.

Here is the write-up listed in the Tech section on here, this guy knows what hes doing too...I've used his write-ups before.

Happy modding!

thanks for the responses, the Bajataco write up on this site and the one 4x4 fink suggested look totally different. I'm sure there is more than one way to do this, is it really necessary to insert an in line fuse? I'll be powering the usual suspects...phone charger, air mattress pump, ipod, etc.

Any more input is appreciated
thanks

you should definitely use a fuse...and, if you run a wire from the battery (which is the way to go, imho), you should put the fuse as close to the battery as possible.
