Chrome Fender Trim Install Question

My 1999 4Runner came WITHOUT any kind of fender flares. So I picked up some THIN chrome fender flares. The front flares are ready to be installed very easily, but when I check the on the rear wheel wells, I found that there are no holes into which I can screw the rear fender flares!!!

Does this mean that I need to drill holes into the rear wheel wells? Help would be appreciated on this matter.

I would hate to drill holes and make a mistake in the process.

jim,

there are holes in the inner fender flare. they might be plugged up w/ closed end plugs.

take one out and go to your local ace hardware store. go to that aisle w/ all those little yellow boxes. look for similar sized plugs w/ a hole in it. buy some self-threading screws and youre good to go.

Actually, I don't have an inner flare for the back wheel wells. On a 4Runner that does not come with flares, there is absolutely no holes, no inner flare, and obviously no plugs.

So my question is: your plugs must have been "plugged" into a hole within the metal wheel well, right? If so, then I must drill holes?
