chevy 4.3 swap..

Im going to do a engine swap this spring. This is my first swap. I was wondering if anyone else has done it before and has any of the specs on it. Ive heard the tranny doesnt need to be changed so thats good. How about the alternator, power steering, fuel system and everything else. I know I need new motor mounts. Any info on this would be great.

Alternator: Use your Toyota with an aftermarket bracket or wire a GM into your electrical system. Either option is relatively simple, the GM alternators off higher outputs for less money though.

Power steering: Same thing, either mount your current pump with an aftermarket bracket or plumb in the GM one.

EFI: A little trickier. Some GM TBI systems require on 15psi, some MPFI systems require 50-60psi. If it is comparable with Toyota pumps (I have no idea what Toyota pressure is), then you can use the stock pump. Otherwise, you need to swap it out with one of the appropriate output pressure.

Exclamation

If your serously considering to swap in a chev 4.3 then you will need to read "Toyota Truck & Land Cruiser Ownsher's Bible" by Moses Ludel. He spends some damn good quality time explaining the swap.

If you're putting EFI, you'll need a new fuel pump. If you're putting on a carb, you'll still need a new fuel pump as your current one is engine mounted and will go away with the engine. A carbed V6 would be a lot easier to install, but there weren't many carbed 4.3's.
