Check Engine light - Dirty air filter

I don't know if you guys who were on the recent Big Bear trip remember me mentioning that my check engine light came on as we were getting ready to head out to Holcomb Creek trail on day 2, but it did. Anyway, it turned out to be the result of a dirty air filter as I suspected. Man was it dusty up there. I think I remember Rob guessing the same thing. I cleaned it when I got home and pulled the EFI fuse for a few minutes. No more light. Guess she was starving for air.

I suggest you all give your filters a looksee. Especially the noobs who were tailgating on Day 1. If you can't clean it, replace it.

Here it is before and after the cleaning:

My engine was SOOOOOOOO starved for air coming down Saturday night!
The thin mountain air and my clogged filter contributed to a max speed of 50 on a slight incline. In fact, my filter was dry to the touch when I pulled it out

I'll have to clean the MAF and TB when I get a chance.

It was REEEAAAAALLLYYY dusty up there. I had to run between 10-20 car lengths back just to stay out of the majority of the dust from the guy in front of me. It needed cleaning before the trip but it wasn't nearly as bad as this.

Running much better now. Thank you Amsoil for keeping that crap out of my engine and ultimately my oil!

That's one of the benefits of having a snorkel, especially one that breaths from the cab. I had cleaned my air filter before the trip and it stayed quite clean, but then again I did trail boss most of the time.

Yeah, the first thing I did when I got home was clean my K&N, especially considering I had a MAF go out on me a few months back from playing in too much dirt. Then I ran some Seafoam...what a scary mess that turned out to be
I need to clean my MAF and throttle body too

That filter was pretty dirty, did you check the TB for any dust seaping through?
