Cheap Deep Exhaust Sound

What I'm looking for is a cheap way to get that awesome deep Flowmaster sound and a good looking pipe coming out. Right now I just have a bolt on Wal-Mart (REPRESENT!!!) silver exhaust tip.

What would be a cheap alternative to a completely new setup...what I want is something that will turn heads. I don't want it LOUD I just want a really DEEP sound. Increased hp is going to be too expensive for me.

I just need something to make the exhaust sound real deep...any ideas? Flowmaster sounds like the way to go. I need some model numbers and prices and where to get it...thanks a lot.

I bought my magnaflow today. Hopefully it'll sound good. did you check the exhaust page? If you want flowmaster, most local shops carry flowmasters and will do install and everything for around 100 bucks. I liked Tom (Mertztr)'s magnaflow a lot so I ordered mine online.

Worse comes to worse and you only feel like spending 30 bucks, get a glass-pack. But it doesn't really have the deep sound.

edit: WHOA, A THOUSAND POSTS!!!!!

Chris-

My glasspack combo ran $52 installed. You get the glasspack at Pepboys, and then find a shop that will weld it into the stock muffler location.

Glasspack: $17
Install: $35

Check out Corey's "exhaust movie's" in my sig. My rig and how it sounds is in there. You wont be disappointed.

But will the glass-pack sound be as deep as a Flowmaster muffler?

Too bad you're not carb'd. I just loosen the wing nut on my aircleaner to where is leaves a small hole, as soon as I kick in the pedal and the secondary opens up, it gives the sweetest noise possible with a four cylinder. Learned this after forgetting to put the nut on...

i just got a spintech for 80 dollars and it sounds way better than my friends who has flows. And if your wanting deep than this is your muffler and you get more hp, i noticed a big difference.

Anybody else second he vote for Spintech? Never heard of it...but...if I can get some more opinions on it then I don't think I can beat that price.

Lemme just make sure I understand this right, I can just get PART of an exhaust system (the muffler and tail pipe part) instead of buying a complete system or getting a custom system made-up for me right?

So pretty much...I need an explanation on what is going to be needed in order for me to JUST get the deep sound...the rest of my exhaust system is FINE...no rust through spots no pitting just the regular old orangish red color.

Thanks again for the help.

I read somewhere else that the spintech doesn't supply enough backpressure for low end torque, however that is with 2.25" pipes. Not sure what is stock on yours.

They can chop off the exhaust at the muffler and weld on your muffler and tailpipe section without modifying any other pipes. If they won't, go to another shop.

Magnaflow is deep, I love mine.
Many sounds of mine on my exhaust page with the part #, and a new vid I put together today below.

Right click, save, yada yada yada, then play it, or it won't play very well.

If 80 is a good price to you, then start shopping around. There's many places that sell Magnaflows for 65-70, plus shipping.

Got to agree on the first part. The Flowmasters on my Mustang rock. I've never heard one on a 4Runner though.

4x4Fink - You could probably get one installed for under $100 if you mail order the muffler and have a local shop weld it onto the stock pipe...

That sounds pretty good Corey...nice air that first guy caught too!

Would a Flowmaster be louder or deeper or either compared to your set-up Corey? And will they be cheaper or more expensive?

I would like something just a HAIR louder...not like straight pipe, just something that would turn some heads crusin through the high school campus Also, how does your (Corey) exhaust sound on the highway?

Thanks for the link and all the help guys, I should be bringin in some cash today and tomorrow so the muffler may not be too far in the future

Thanks again,

Fink

I can't compare it to a Flomaster, as I have never heard one.
Well, I'm sure I have, but I don't know if it's installed on certain rigs or not.

You can't go wrong with a Magaflow.
Sounds good on the highway, but the sound of my tires is louder at 55.
I have very loud tires.

Can't compare prices for ya, I paid $280 for a whole cat back setup back in '99 when I had it put on.
And yes, it's holding up just fine & dandy for being on since then.

OK...where would be a good place to get the muffler that I need for my rig? Online? Or should I ask the store?

Either way, whats the name or part number or somethin of the muffler I am going to be needing?

Thanks for your help again Corey,

Fink

mine sound awesome

Who ever said flowmaster plus 3.0= bad must have never had one on their rig. Mine on my 88 and hte one on my sisters 92 sound better than any 4runner i've ever heard around where i live. People have had many good things to say about the sound of my runner adn i've never had any negative things spoken about it yet, and i plan not to either. I wouldn't put any other muffler on my runner but a flowmaster. If you have any doubts to what i am saying then come on down to Ga. and check it out for yourself.
