Changing wheels and tires--anyone see a problem with the offset and size?
I am about to get some 16 x 8 Weld Stone Crushers for my 97 SR5. I have hear the offset is different than stock and that my wheels/tires will stick out about a half inch (I have the black plastic, smaller stock fender flares that mold with the mudflaps). I've heard this can put more stress on my ball joints, but it is a Yota, it can handle it right? Here's the real deal though. I need tires NOW. I want to get my bigger tire size, then lift--get it? Sounds retarted, but I need tires now...my BFG A/T's have over 100k on them. I want to go with BFG M/T's--285/75r16's (or 32.8"x11.2"). I am currently running 265/75r16's (or 31.6"x10.4"). I think they will rub when fully turned, especially with the greater offset and I'm not wheeling it until the lift is installed. I've ordered Andy's spacers and will be doing the Tundra lift soon with the 1" diff drop...what do y'all think?
BTW--anyone have Tundra springs they are selling?

And---this little Tundra lift seems like alot of money for not much lift. I really wish there was another way...you know...to get a 4 inch kit, out of the box, that would fit 33's no sweat. When are the lift companies gonna pull their heads out and make lifts for trucks other than Chevies, Fords, and pickups?

Expect it to be a tad bouncier. Mine was. Also, they could never balance them, so I ended up returning them. Going from Hub-centric to lug-centric tends to make some wheels difficult to balance. That's what they said after the 7th time anyway.

Good Lord, I missed that! I was thinking of 16x8 (which won't make the tires stick out if the offset is corrrect) and totally missed the 285 part...

I ran 33x12.50s on my 85 for a brief while before I lifted it. They only rubbed when turning hard, or turning medium and hitting a bump. But I dunno bout no 97...

Thanks for the input guys---I'll lift before I throw the wheels and tires on. I knew I would need to. Also thanks for the feedback on Beggs, Flamed. The prices were so low on those Weld wheels, I was wondering if they were stolen!

Actually, all I've ordered are the wheels and spacers...the jury is still out on the tires. All I know is my boy had 33x15.5's on his 90, and it looked reeeeeeeeeeel good.
