changing door panel question

Has anyone seen anyone change the door panels in a older pickup 89-95 to one of the newer tacoma panels that look like this:
Clicky Clicky
Sorry for the picture not being the best but for some reason I couldn't access montypics at the time I was posting this.

The reason why I want to do this is because I want to add speakers to the doors but don't want to fiberglass some pods. Mainly because I don't know how to fiberglass and don't like the look of speakers just mounted on the door panels. Or if anyone could do me a favor and take a couple measurements of a door panel like this that would be awesome.

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Krash,

Have you givin any thought to new custom Kick panels for your truck? Take a look at these. I know you can purchase them from a bunch of different compaines that offer the Q Logic Products.

Krash, your door panels are probably pretty similar to mine in my '91.

Take a look on my stereo page for my custom pods.
They were in the rig when I got it, and they look very easy to make.

They are only wood, and the covering on them, and the fabric on the outside that snaps back on over the speaker.

They hold a 6.5" speaker with ease, and since they stick out a bit, a deeper speaker can be fit into the hole.

yeah I was thinking of going that route corey just its that these door panels I got now are kinda shot one of them has a rip in it. Not very big and hardly noticable but annoying to me... I might just end up recovering them.. I just figured that trying to get something that already fits might be a good Idea. If I find some at the junk yard and they don't fit I'll probably go the route your previous owner did.

And as for kick panels... I think that they would just get in the way imo. Plus I just don't like them

Krash, I've been thinking about this Mod to, if you found out about those Tacoma door panels...let me know. As far as those custom kick panels... besides the fast that they're really ugly... they also cover up the fuse box... which would prove to be really inconvenient IMO... but yea..let me know if you find out anything about those panels.

Well right now I got my windshield being replaced wednesday... I have to be up at noon for that so I'm going to try to goto the junk yard and scrounge around then.. If I happen to come across some and install them I'll do a write up and put it on my website and let you all know.

everything looks as if it would line up.. all I got to do is get out there and take some measurements of a tacoma door panel from 96 and hopefully if it fits find it in a color that matches my truck. If I can't find them i'm either going to look for some bucket seats to replace my 60/40 bench or I'm looking into a 2" body lift right now to add when I get rims and tires the first part of next year.

Old topic, but I was curious if anyone has done this yet. I want to, but I have to order the panels to try it.
