Champion vs Nippondenso Spark plugs

The plugs at question are Champion and Nippondenso. The Champs are single prong and the Nips are dual prong. Took out the Champs and installed Nips dual prong and truck runs much better. My question is this. The book says to gap the plugs at .043, but the guy at the dealership said NO!, put them at .032. I left them at .043. What should they be at?

You should not use single electrode plugs unless they are iridium plugs.
They should be fine without gapping but when in doubt, owner's manual is correct.

......I visually inspect each plug but never gap them.

I made the mistake of running champions when I first got my 4Runner and it had a horrible misfire. I have been running either Denso or NGK ever since (the double electrode plugs).

3.4L should be gapped to .043. Buy the plugs from the dealer. The dealer says that they come pregapped but they do not.

hmmm i wonder why lol could be you should only use denso or ngk
.... also i didint gap my plugs from the dealer and never had any problems i would of gapped them but not sure how you can

I found a post in which someone emailed NGK asking about gapping the dual electrodes and they said not to... Here is the link to the post... https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...9&postcount=23
Might be just for NGK's... Just leave it as it came...

I've heard the same thing from Dealers...they've always told me they should be gapped to .032

I wonder if that is the same as them saying the crank pulley bolt should be torqued to 184 ft-lbs?!
The owner's manual has the correct specs for gapping.
