What are the benefits of going with Ceramic (more expensive) headers over chrome headers?

Yes I tried a search. I recall people have mentioned why in the past but I couldnt' find the exact thread hence why I am asking.

I think (I could be wrong) that the ceramic coating expands and contracts with the heat more in sync with the steel, therefore lasts longer. For sure it's much more heat resistant than chrome. Also, you can (and should) ceramic coat the inside of the header, you can't do that with chrome.

I believe the above is correct. Also, ceramic coating will hold the heat better and in theory scavange the exhaust gases better... Also, they will resist rust better.

The main advantage of "ceramic" coatings is that it will hold heat far better than chrome or bare headers. That translates to lower under hood temperatures, a little better exhaust velocity which makes for better scavenging(depending on primary tube size), and quicker light off of the catalytic converter(if you care).
A side benefit is that it will never discolor or rust if applied correctly. The polished chrome looking stuff will look just like it came from the factory for years. I use that on my motorcycle pipes and it still looks great and doesn't bake my leg in the summer. I also have coated headers on my runner and the under hood temps are quite low. I got the black coating on the headers and it still looks new as well.
Good chrome plating will discolor near the head, but if it's done properly has great rust resistance and should hold up for years. I've seen Thorley chrome headers on a 22R that were about 10 years old that still looked great.
