Can I take the pocket out and mount a CB in their in the dash (maybe one that the mic unplugs from so its not hanging around when im not using it.????

Do this...
I considered this a while ago but decided to do an ash tray mount. You could however just go to a truck stop (the best places for any CB stuff!) and bring in your radio's faceplate. They always have open models in cases you can look at before you buy, just match up the front sizes and make sure its not too deep.

Also, think about getting a Ham Radio Technician license. Better level of range(especially with repeaters), contact conversations and the some units have remote mountable faceplates. Look at Kenwood, Icom and Yaesu . Have been in contact with people in Alaska, South Africa and Australia at the same time using my Kenwood handheld transceiver, while enjoying a brew on deck. Use a magnetic roof mount when travelling. Test is not difficult (no code required and given by local Ham Clubs who are really nice helpfull people). Am I pushing Ham radio over CB???

But there's no reason you can't do both.

Meant only to be an additional type of communication to consider. I take a CB, Ham triband with scanner, cell phone and a GMRS/FRS unit. Want as many emergecy communication options with me as possible. Guess it depends what is used in your area. Our club tends to use 2 meter Ham and GMRS/FRS.
