cat converter stolen
So the saga of crap luck continues. I go out today to leave work and find that my catalytic converter has been stolen off of my 4Runner. That's fantastic. This after I backed into my GF's car last week. So now I need a new one. Anybody got on that I can use in CA? The dealer wants $1195 for it!!!!! They also cut it off is such a way that I now need to replace the pipe in fron and behind it. If I'm not mistaken these are flanged correct and they cut the flanges off. Oh yeah also the O2 sensor that is $165.
Question is now I have a check engine light which I expected and also the two VSC lights are on??? What's that about? Is this thing going to be OK to drive for a few days until I can get a new cat?

You have a lot of company: https://www.yotatech.com/search.php?searchid=6147457. You should be able to find what others have done as far as replacments and driving it without, etc in these.

They usually get the spare tire when they steal the cats around here. I guess they want a full set of ugly wheels with dry rotted tires.lol Sorry to hear about your troubles.

my wifes 2001 tacoma prerunner was stolen last march. if you have comprehensive insurance, they should cover it minus your deductible.
my insurance company wouldn't replace the converter with oem, they first replaced it with the junk napa part, then it failed one month later (horrible fuel millage and CEL). i complained about the part then they replaced it with oem and rear 02 sensor at dealership. remember, if you go this route. you have a choice to get it repaired at the dealership or repair shop of YOUR choice. if they steer you to one shop remind them thats theres a anti steering law in your state.
if you plan on keeping it, go with oem. if not, try your luck with after market.

It's the one that went into the large rear cat I believe. I honestly haven't gotten under there and looked more then just to look at it long enough to know what was missing.
