Can't get starter to turn. yyyyyy?
I installed a new starter, tested the wire that connects to the starter solenoid and even tried to bipass it by running a wire straight to the 12v source with no luck , wont start the starter at all. No clicking or anything. The batter and grounding for the starter are all attatched. I just can't figure out why I can't get the starter to go. Any ideas?

What year, motor, etc?
I replaced the starter on my 89 22R, it was a piece of cake once I found out it was wired hot and should have disconnected the battery (a little arc event ).
The solenoid switches the ground I believe - hook both wires direct to a battery (with the starter on the bench) to test.

its 89 3.0 So you mean that the little black wire that clips onto the starter - not the heavy gauge wires obviously - should just get a 12v power source to get the starter turning? I only see two wires on the starter, theres the heavy heavy gauge one that goes direct to the battery and then the small light gauge one that eventually makes it up to the steering column and the ignition switch. I don't want to pull the starter but as I rule out more and more possible problems, it seems more likely I'm going to have to even though I haven't gotten the car to start since I put it on.
