Can you bypass fuel pump relays?

I have a 98' tacoma v-6. In the FSM it sounds like you have to remove the tank and jump the pump of of battery. Is this the only way to test the pump? Can you do the Fp B+ jump or was this for earlier models? Could really use some help here.

you could do it at the COR. It controls the fuel pump.

And how would you do that? Not real familiar with electricity? Been trying to research as much as possible. Are you saying to apply 12 volts to the wiring at the COR?

the COR get a signal from your maf sensor. It then energizes and sends power to the fuel pump. Find the ewd for that and you could tap into the fuel pump wires from there.
