Can anyone recommend an exhaust sys for my 3rd gen?
I have done the elbow off mod but I've been told that in order for the truck to perform even better I must put in a better exhaust sys., I would love to improve my mpg most of all.....thanks for any advise

halza,
you'll be much better off if you search the terms:
- magnaflow
- borla
- vortex
- flowmaster
- dynomax
and reading!
there are a lot of opinions in the threads and in them, you'll get a better sense of what might fit what you want vs. some random person recommending an exhaust system for you.
yes, its a lot of work and reading but you will be better off for it.

Id say anything thats highly rerputable. And that hase been a proven winner throughout the many years. Brands like Flowmaster, borla, magnaflow are winners. The losers are brands like Spintech. But like always thats only one mans opinion.

Had a 50 series Flowmaster put on my 3rd Gen for $150, (Muffler plus labor).
I have a 4" deckplate, and it sounds GREAT. Very low deep tone, and gets loud when you floor it. Not loud like "ughh, annoying", but, very deep and SMOOTH sounding.
Id imagine it would sound even better if you get a 3" straight tailpipe!
