Camshafts: LC vs. TRD
Ok, so in this great state called California they have left us few "legal" options for performance upgrades. I ordered a TRD Stage 1 Camshaft, but after reading about the LC EFI ready cam, I’m ready to ship my TRD back. What would you all recommend? It sounds like the LC cam might need their springs and even a new rocker assembly? That's more dough to dump into the motor.
I know I want a little more pulling power on the freeway but a nice sturdy idle while crawling. And from my readings up-until now it sounded like the TRD Stage 1 was my obvious choice. I've got a week or two to decide as the machine shop is boring and decking and whatever else they do.
Thanks for any input!

so whats wrong with the TRD camshaft? sure there are hotter cams out there, but more performance always means more wear on the engine. I had a flat lobe on my stock cam in my 22re and replaced it with a TRD cam just because it was so much cheaper-- and might give 15hp maybe. TRD does make 2 more cams for more power and i have heard of people passing smog check 2 in california with the TRD stage 2 cam.

There isn't anything wrong with it, i'm just wondering if spending the extra money will get me more HP and torque gains. I think I'll wait for my TRD Stage 1 and then see how happy I am with it. I can always lose a little money and sell it on ebay.
