56k but on what kind of vehicle? Seals deteriorate over time, so you may have 56k but the seals could be toast just from the effects of time thus causing a leak.

few things, is your compressor kicking on? if not, it could be many things, low on freon, bad switch, wiring, etc. Second of all if it is low that means you have a leak. Freon isn't something that wears out or needs to be refilled occasionally. look around the compressor, lines and condensor and see if you see an oily film. Generally a sign of a leak. If you are looking the sight glass the compressor needs to be on to be able to see if you have any bubbles. The sight glass is on top of a cylinder looking thing inside the grill right by the passenger headlight. Open the hood, and look straight down.

I had my 01 sport in for the same type of issue today. They told me the evaporator as leaking and had to be replaced along with some other parts. They called tonight and said it would be until tomorrow as they had problems getting an O-ring to seal and would figure it out tomorrow!? original estimate was for $582.00 parts & labor, I hope that it doesn't grow any larger than that.

ok so i turned on the a/c and looked at the glass seal..when i was looking at it it seemed like the liquid would get sucked out of it and then it would fill up with buddles and repeat..so does that mean i am low on it? i look around for 15 min and didnt see any oily film on anything...
