bumper jacking
Hi
New member here, recently bought a stock 97 extended cab Tacoma. I have found lots of good info on these forums, thanks everyone!
I was wondering if this truck could be lifted up by the bumpers should I get in a jam some time?
Another question for those in Colorado... How much are tires allowed to extend out from the fenders? I get a set of tires for off road and the wheels they are on extend about 3 inches from the top of the fenders.

Only with a Hilift jack and the bumper adapter, and even then I would not push it. Always place the jack under where the bumper is bolted to the brace, never the ends. If you've got a trailer hitch mounted to the frame, that's a better option.
It's best to wheel with a buddy, and have 2 tow straps. Use tow hooks or your trailer hitch. Use the pin that holds your reciever in, and run it through one loop on the strap, this is very secure.
Do like me, don't get stuck! My standard of operation is, I don't know if we'll make it....truck walks through without spinning a tire...I knew we could make it!
I'd rather feel like a wuss than break something. good luck!

Like Vmaxjohn said, you can use the Hi-Lift Bumper lift on your factory bumpers. I did with my factory bumpers after I removed the factory valance. It was kinda unnerving since I knew just how weak the factory bumpers really were. After I got my sliders, I was more comfortable lifting the truck with those. Guess that you had best be prepared to need a new bumper when the time comes to actually use a hi-lift on the factory bumper though...

THANKS, such fast replies. I would only do such a thing should I get in trouble, but I plan to take it easy. I will be getting sliders soon but not before a trip to the mountains on the 17th.
