Exclamation Building a convertable pickup--- ?'s..

Okay..... here's the skinny. I really miss my bronco that I had back in high school. However... I don't think I'll own another Bronco because of the gas mileage and all the other Ford problems. I also miss driving my 300ZX with the T-Tops off. So.... what I was thinking was, why not build a convertable pickup? I don't want a ragtop truck though..... So... I'm going to tell you guys what's been floating around my head. Tell me what you think is good and bad about the ideas. And any ideas or possibly tips on building it.

What I was thinking, was using a plasma cutter, and cutting just above the windshield all the way across for my front cut. As for the rear, I'd make a cut that is level with the bed railing. Once it was cut off, I'd put an interior cage in that is welded/bolted to the frame to give the truck some rigidity. Then where I cut, I'd create a small lip on the top of the windshield with a door gasket. The lip would have holes, and the top would have a metal rail/bar that the bolts would thread into. As for the rear, I'd fab a flat edge, both for the truck and the top, and have the flat edge extend into the interior, again with holes on both top and bottom for the bolts to fit through. To save money, I'd just take the doors off when I take the top off. Then when I have more money, I'd buy an extra set of doors, and cut them down to the little half doors.

So what I'd end up with, is an interior cage and a removable hard top. My question is.... what am I forgetting? What hitches do you think I'll run into?

Thanks

They sell convertible kits, not sure if they have them for your specific toyota. Check at lowrider or minitruck websites, I know they make tons of them for nissans and s10s, probably toyotas as well!
