Bug Shields Really Work? huge bug problem
i work in the so cal desert which thrives on aggriculture, and bugs are out of control out here. if you go about 5 days without washing your windshield, you can't see out of it. pretty much sucks.
was wondering if bug shields actually help. i am thinking about buying one, and was also wondering if someone make a clear one, maybe someone has a pic?

my experience with bug shields is that they do a great job of keeping bugs off the hood, but don't deflect them enough to keep them off the windshield. my last bug shield was on a '95 nissan hardbody which has generally the same profile as a toyota truck. it did nothing to keep the windshield clean.

I've read a thread or two about bug shields here and the general consensus is that they do very little to keep the bugs off your windshield. With the amount of bugs you are talking about, I think you are SOL.

I think they work great--I live in Mazatlan and to the North is a ton of Agriculture--I got the toyota version bug guard--before the shield I would have to pull off and wash the window 2 or 3x in a 200 mile trip--now I can make the trip with no stops.
