Bug Deflector

Ok, so I got my deflector and went to install it. No big deal, right? Well. You need to use 4 fasteners that it comes with. According to the instructions they should go in with ease then you gently tighten. Gentle my ass. It took me an hour and the help of a friend to get the 2 outside fasteners in. We spent about another hour trying to get the inside ones in and can simply NOT do it. Anyone else have this problem? Got any tips or tricks on getting 'em in or what? This is driving me crazy!!

thanks,
nags

They're not regular screws.. they are plastic fasteners.. they slide into place then you screw the end and they expand..

Are they square holes??

Are they square holes slightly smaller then 1/4 inch???

If so you might be able to get the TOYOTA parts that go into the bumper (license mounting) to fit.

Just an idea....

Check with yota

Sometimes after market "fasteners" can be slighly large....

Check with toyota to see if you can order the fasteners from them.

Its worth a shot....

Well, the thing is. The ones that came with the deflector are much longer than stock. The stock ones wouldnt be able to go through the deflector, weather strip, and into the hood. They woudln't be long enough

I am not sure what could be wrong with it. I installed mine in about 15 minutes with the help of my brother. This is the Toyota bug deflector, right?

hmm..i got my EGR deflector with those plug type things and it was fairly easy...one thing that helped with the "plastic clips" was that i first used something flat and put that on top of the clip and pushed it...provides more power i guess and your thumb doesn't get smashed...good luck
