BruceTs Bumper Plans for 3rd gen 4runner needed
Was my last thread deleted??
So I am just venturing into building my own rear bumper here soon and am interested in following the BruceTs bumper design and have done plenty of searches on other bumper build up followings, but every link that I find to the original BruceTs plans are dead links. Does anyone have the original plans saved on their computer or have Bruce's contact info?
Thanks

Sorry I don't have his plans. He is over on UltimateYota. You may find something there.
I built my rear bumper. The biggest thing that I learned was to keep it thin. The main beam across the rear is a 2x4x 3/16" tube (4" high). I didn't want the frame to show. I wish I went with hitch receiver tube (~2 3/8") square all the way across. You wouldn't think that the additional 1 5/8" would make that big of a difference but it does.
Later I went back and cut the outside lower ends off at angles for added clearance.

Pictures are gone, but here is the literature.
And what I ended up with following his plans:
Initial:
Intermediate:
Final after adding the bolt-on swing out:
Check out the last couple pages of my ExPo build thread for more pictures of how the bumper mounts/frame reinforcements.

This is his cardomain page:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/765340...toyota-4runner
Toward the bottom of the page he has this:
"The rear bumper is of my creation, the link to the bumper thread is fixed, but if it goes down, you can contact me at brucethesniper{at}hotmail.com." It is down now, but you may want to try his email to let him know. Looks like he has had this problem in the past.
Good luck!

Not sure but maybe your thread title wasn't clear so I tweaked your from 'brucet's bumper plans' to ' BruceTs Bumper Plans for 3rd gen 4runner needed'
Edit: I checked the deleted thread folder/logs and didn't find a thread started by you..
Looks like members came through with some info for you. Be sure to bookmark the links.

Yeah thank you all for the info - the brackets are most of what I've been looking for. I sent an email to Bruce with the address posted and am hoping for a response. Hopefully the build starts up soon - I've only got through may for free shop and welding use

Not sure if this will help much but I built my bumper based off of his design. Here's my build tread https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f88/...nstall-209808/
Since the build I've done a few things to clean it up but this is basically it. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions you think I might be able to help you with.

Just responding here since lately people have been e-mailing me about my bumper plans.
Sorry I don't follow many forums these days, alot has been going on with my health and trying to deal with other RL issues have prevented me from doing much fabrication work. A friend of mine did allow me to have a page for my bumper build-up, but his site is now gone. Once I get a chance, I'll upload all the images and full write-up again. Either here or on my cardomain site directly. I have made many improvements over the original design and it now takes me only 2 days to complete a bumper.

Any word on those updated plans? I am looking at doing this, but adding a swingout tire carrier similar to how Outdoor Logic looks, recessed into the bumper.

Finally found my old folder with the original HTML file and pics that were originally uploaded. Also found some of my newer pics with me using a plasma torch and a press brake to make the side wings. I'll look to putting a post together with all the info next week.
the link below will show you my press brake and the bends I make now

This will show you the updated mounts, which adds quite a bit of strength if your planning on adding a tire carrier. I use one that mounts in the hitch. Also you can see the tabs I use to clip the stock plastic piece into place

Hope all is well with you Bruce. I have recently acquired a welder. After practicing on scrap for another month or so, I have ambitions of building a rear bumper. Your bumper info would be invaluable to me, if you have a chance to share the plans sometime. Best wishes, if you are still dealing with health issues!
