Question Breather Extension Questions

One of these weekends I am going to extend my breathers so I can stop being paranoid about going though deep puddles. I had heard something about transfer case breathers being extended? Where is it located on a 2nd gen and how would you extend it? Also, where could I get the Nissan breathers that fit into our diffs (or do I have to order them)?.
I assume those are the only 3 breathers down there?
Sorry for all the questions, thanks for reading.
-Bryan

How deep do you plan on going? I don't think that you will need to worry about your transfer case unless you think that water will go over the top of the breather. It's pretty far up there and if you went that deep then there would be other things than the transfer case to worry about.

Say it with me,

1/8th inch NPT fittings

Cheap, easy, no need to order, and did I say cheap?

Computer is close to the floor, breather is close to the floor, if you are getting that deep, look for a snorkel and some long wires for the puter.

OK, I wont ever go deep enough to worry about the t-case. Thanks for the info, I'll look for the NPT fittings.

I think that unless you plan on going deep enough to cover you transfer case then I wouldn't worry. I did my diffs but I'll be worrying about other things if I can cover my transfer case.

You have 3 choices here.

1. You can use the NPT parts Adrian mentioned
2. Nissan stocks the part you need, I don't know the #
3. Look on my website in my mods table of contents for the page my breather mod is on.

It lists the Toyota part # if you go that route.
Also the hose size I used too.

I paid about $5 each for them, but they are worth every penny.

When you do this:

this is what happens:

That's a tranny filter caked in mud.

It costs 5 bucks and some elbow grease to install a transfer case breather (which I still have to do). Might as well do it.

What does the transfercase breather look like? Is it a similar design to the differentials? (so I can spot it)
thanks,
-Bryan
